"I was hungry and you gave me food, I thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me." Matthew 25:31-40.
United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians. According to our foundational statement of beliefs in The Book of Discipline, we share the following basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities:
God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.
We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrate God's redeeming love.
The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, it's the Holy Spirit at work.
Genesis 1:27 asserts that we've been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create.
The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.
We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice.
The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
Pastor Joyce Dunne grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania, where she earned her B.S. in Bible and M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Cairn University. Joyce has faithfully served as Pastor with the Greater New Jersey Conference and the Florida Conference.
Joyce has served on staff at several churches in leadership positions involving children, youth and family, hospitality, assimilation and outreach. Additionally she worked as an Event Coordinator for a Christian University and as the Executive Admin Assistant to the CEO of an international missionary agency.
Pastor Joyce has answer God’s call to serve God’s church. She has a love for people and a special place in her heart for children and youth. People matter to God and they matter to her. She brings a creative energy to ministry and a passion to share the Good News of the Gospel; the greatest story ever told. We are called to love God and our neighbors as ourselves. We may not always think alike, but we can love alike.
Pastor Joyce’s husband has played a significant role in supporting her in ministry. Joyce and George have been married for 34 years and have been blessed with a blended family of 7 children and 12 grandchildren. Joyce and George enjoy the great outdoors; they love to travel, camp, kayak and bike, just about anything outdoors they find adventurous.
